DONATIONS & GIFTING PLANS

The Southfield Kappa Foundation provides scholarships and support to eligible community service activities under the non-profit 501(C)(3) tax-exempt code of the IRS. Our programs continue to need the support of community-minded individuals and businesses. Please help us continue to help community by making a donation today.

Donate On-Line

You can safely make a donation on-line using Network for Good, a service provided to non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations. The secure network accepts all major credit cards and your donation can be directed to support our scholarship program and/or our community service programs.

OUTRIGHT GIFTS OF CASH

Gifts of cash are the most common way of supporting the Southfield Kappa Foundation. Your gift is tax deductible.

Contributions of any amount should be made payable to the Southfield Kappa Foundation and mail to the Southfield Kappa Foundation, P.O. Box 446, Southfield, Michigan 48037.

 GIFTS OF SECURITIES

  Gifts of securities, especially appreciated stock, offer two distinct advantages to the donor:

     a charitable income tax deduction;

     elimination of capital gains tax.

GIFTS OF OTHER CAPITAL ASSETS

It may be to your advantage to make a gift of other capital assets.  These assets include real estate, works of art, insurance, antiques, jewelry, etc. The advantages of any particular gift depends on the donor's circumstances. One's estate assets may be distributed over the owner's lifetime in order to reduce future estate taxes and administrative costs.

 LIFE INSURANCE

A donor may name the Southfield Kappa Foundation irrevocably as the owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy. The present cash surrender value of the policy is deductible as a charitable contribution to the Southfield Kappa Foundation. If the donor elects to continue to pay premiums after donating the policy, the premiums are deductible also.

   BEQUESTS

A donor may add the Southfield Kappa Foundation to his will as a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary. Bequest may be used to establish named gift funds (e.g. scholarship fund) or memorial funds.

       MATCHING GIFTS

Many companies have a program which matches gifts to non-profit tax-exempt organizations. This information and the appropriate forms are available in your employer's personnel department.

Donors should consult their tax advisor about the specific effect of charitable gifts to their personal circumstances.
